Royal Caribbean International Looking For Family Reports, The Reward? A Free Cruise

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Calling all families – have you got what it takes to report on this winter’s biggest news story?

Royal Caribbean International is looking for a fun-loving family of would-be journalists to cover the launch of its newest ship, Allure of the Seas, during a special four-day preview sailing from Fort Lauderdale (Florida).

The Reporters at Sea competition is open to families of up to six people who are all prepared to join in the excitement aboard the world’s largest cruise ship.

To enter, budding reporters simply need to upload a creative video of up to 45 seconds or less in length [max 100MB] which showcases their on-screen talents at www.allureoftheseas.com/reportersatsea. For example, maybe give us a frontline report from your kitchen during the breakfast chaos, or maybe a commentary of a back garden footie match – you decide, but make it as wacky as possible because competition is sure to be tough.

Videos will be judged on the entrants’ ability to entertain, as well as an ability to explain all the exciting innovations on Allure of the Seas.

Entrants have to move fast – the closing date for uploads is October 10 2010. Royal Caribbean International will announce which three videos have made the shortlist on 15 October 2010. These three shortlisted videos will be posted in an online gallery to allow the public to vote for the winner between 15 October and 29 October. Reporter at Seas competitions are also running in the United States, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Italy, and Venezuela, and winning famillies from each will be announced simultaneously on November 15 2010. The individual who enters the contest on behalf of his or her family must be 18 years of age.

While embarking on a four-night preview sailing, the winning family will enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at The DreamWorks Experience featuring the “How To Train Your Dragon” ice show, a “Madagascar” aqua show, character breakfasts, activities for the kids in Adventure Ocean, character meet-and-greets, parades and sail-away parties, 3D films in the ship’s 3D theatre, as well as backstage access to Chicago: The Musical.

Winning families will be flown to Fort Lauderdale (Florida) to cover the two exclusive preview cruises onboard Allure of the Seas from November 19 to November 23, 2010.

Allure of the Seas shares the title of the world’s largest and most revolutionary cruise ship with its sister ship, Oasis of the Seas.  An architectural marvel at sea, she will span 16 decks, encompass 225,282 gross registered tons, carry 5,400 guests at double occupancy, and feature 2,700 staterooms. Allure of the Seas will tout Royal Caribbean’s exclusive neighborhood concept of seven distinct themed areas, which will include Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone.  The ship will alternate a Western Caribbean with an Eastern Caribbean seven-night itinerary from her home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  Additional information is available at Allure of the Seas.
